Make Healthy Changes: 3 Easy Steps

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, we all know the cycle: make a promise to yourself; keep that promise for one week or two months, something changes, break promise to yourself. The truth is, if you really want to make changes in your life, the first day of the year isn’t the only day you can start. This is especially true if you are looking to make changes to your health and wellness routine. When it comes to your health, right now is the best time to start, but if you waited until New Years, that’s fine too.

Now, your only goal is to stick to those promises and changes, but how? Well, when it comes to sticking to your New Year’s resolution… or any resolution for that matter, it all starts with changing the way you think about the changes you plan to make for yourself, your health, and your wellness. Let’s break it down.

Diet

At some point or another nearly everyone will promise himself or herself that they will go on a diet. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to lose weight this year or if you just want to make healthy changes (for heart health, liver function, hormone balance, digestive health, etc.), you’re looking for a healthy change, and your diet it the first step to success.

Unfortunately, changing your diet is also the most drastic step to healthy change, and it can wreak havoc on your body and mind. While this might be a good thing, it doesn’t always feel so awesome (sitting on the toilet for hours while you understand how new foods affect your bodily functions), and it often leads to giving up and walking away from your health and wellness goals.

In truth, your body is probably just detoxing from your previous diet. This isn’t a bad thing by any means, and it actually means that your new diet is working. Get over the hump of gross, and you’ll be on your way to the changes you’re looking for. Consult a doctor about making drastic changes to your diet, and make sure you approach health and wellness in the healthiest way possible for your mind and body.

Exercise

It’s easy to go to the gym once or twice a week… for the first three or four weeks. But suddenly, your schedule changes or you realize that you have more work to do one week, or you’re sick of going to the gym and having to wait for your favorite machine.

It’s pretty annoying.

Trust me, I get it. However, the easiest thing to do when it comes to exercise is figure out reasons you can’t or shouldn’t exercise. And unfortunately, this leads to a dismissal of your goals pretty quickly. Your physical health means a lot to you, and giving up on exercise won’t help you meet your goals. That’s why it’s important to learn how to exercise in any situation. Can’t make it to the gym? Get some stretches in at the office.

Sick of your Tae Bo video? Start forcing extra movements while you’re cleaning the house. Don’t allow yourself any excuses. This is your health we’re talking about.

Juicing

It’s not just a fad anymore. The benefits of juicing are so strong that it almost seems silly to leave them out of your health and wellness routine. But who has time to figure out juicing recipes, create shopping lists, juice the fruits and veggies, then drink their drink… not to mention cleaning that juicer? Uh… no thanks.

Juicing is often overlooked as a health and wellness supplement, because of two common misconceptions. The first one being that you have to go on a juice fast to make it work. Nope. You can use juicing as a diet and exercise helper. Adding juiced fruits and veggies to your diet will help you gain energy, cleanse your major organs, and stay on track with your health and wellness goals.

The second misconception about juicing is that you have to juice your own fruits and veggies for the nutrients. Nope. With juicing growing in popularity (because it works), companies like THRIV will deliver perfectly balanced, all-natural juices right to your door. With how easy it is to access this essential part of your health and wellness plan, it becomes almost impossible to fall off the juicing wagon.
